Music Videos
Video killed the radio star. Then YouTube killed the video star.
Longwave, “Everywhere You Turn,” Client: RCA (play at MTV.com)
Falcon, “The Sandfighter,” Client: No Office Records
A music video for Brooklyn-based Falcon. Interestingly, I began this project as an 8-year-old in 1980 using a Super 8 camera and a cast of neighborhood friends. Returning to the footage nearly 30 years later, while creating a music video for my brother Shannon Ferguson (Falcon, Longwave), I was surprised to find so many depictions of cartoon violence. Toy guns seem ubiquitous in this clip, which has a prevailing “Lord of the Flies” meets “Tom & Jerry” vibe. That said, I found that many of the nostalgic images complemented the wistful tone of the track and its exploration of erstwhile promise.
Blackmarket, “Tongue Twister Typo,” Client: Future Sounds Management/Planetary Group
This video was the result of DHowell Media Group’s “family business” model, wherein my cousin, animator Brannon Ferguson, joined the fold.
